November 2008
To All Members of Mako Soccer Club:
It is with great regret that we announce the resignation of Mako Soccer Club’s President, Nick Butala. Nick has dedicated many hours as a volunteer with Mako and served as President for more than five years. The success and growth of this Club are largely due to his hard work and consistent efforts. We thank Nick for his commitment and years of service to our club.
Our current Vice President, Pete DiBernardo, has now taken over this position, which is not an easy task. In doing so, Pete will be making some changes, building upon the things that worked in the past and correcting those that did not, with the hope of improving the overall quality of the program we offer to our members.
Over the course of last season, the makeup of the Board has changed. As a result, the direction of the Club will be changing as well. It is important that the members understand our mission and objectives in moving forward. Therefore, we encourage you to take the time to read the attached Mission Statement.
The focus of the Board of Directors is to move the club forward. New challenges and initiatives have been established and are reviewed regularly. Some of these many initiatives include:
· Hiring an accounting firm to help organize and manage our books and make budgeting easier.
· Reviewing and amending the by-laws to reflect the growth of the club.
· Hiring an employee to run concession and having the entire concession area remodeled, cleaned and reorganized to better serve.
· On-line registration to allow for the tracking of players and coaches, ease of team rostering for in-house registration and with FYSA and most importantly, the tracking of payments made for registrations.
· Reviewing and evaluating how we handle both club and player sponsorships.
· Creating a new Mission Statement for the club.
The purpose of this letter is to reach out to our members and remind you all that Mako Soccer Club relies on its volunteers. Every one of us on the Board, as well as every coach, generously gives their time to this Club and your children on a voluntary basis. Our Club has now grown from 300 members to more than 1100 members, and this small group of volunteers simply can no longer do it alone. We need YOU.
Whether you would like to run for one of the vacant board positions or offer your time as a member of one our committees, we encourage you to inquire about where you are needed. Even if the most you can offer is an hour here and there we could certainly use your help. Please step up and get involved.
In donating your time, you give back to the community, you keep the Club going, and you show the children and other parents how a little help, out of the goodness of your heart, goes a long way. The time you give, no matter how much or how little, will be greatly appreciated, and the children will benefit most of all.
Sincerely,
Mako Soccer Club Board of Directors:
